I’ve gotten out of the habit of writing each day and I was really suffering because of it. Creating a world and its inhabitants is addicting and when I walk away from them for too long I start wondering how they’re doing and what’s happening in their lives.
Some of the things I did instead of writing over the past few weeks:
- Crocheted a monster scarf that turned out so badly I can’t share it.
- Baked bread, cookies, and brownies.
- Binge watched Call The Midwife.
- Gained 10 pounds
Yesterday I woke up and said, “Enough!” I sifted through files on my computer until I found the last book I’d been working on and dusted it off.
The weather has been icky, and the kids have been cranky but today I pulled out a bunch of shapes I’d saved from other projects and handed them glue sticks and paper. “Make me a pretty picture,” I said right before I sat down in front of my computer.
So today I wrote. And wrote. And wrote some more.
It felt good and I’m happy to report all is well in Sweet Town. And soon you can catch up with them, too.
